Currently, we are partnering with a regional healthcare organization that operates multiple hospitals and clinics. They are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join their dynamic team and contribute to pivotal networking and telecommunications projects in the healthcare industry.  This position is a full-time (40 hr/wk) contractor position and will require you to live in or around Boise, ID.

This is a hybrid work-location position; however, some workloads will require on-site presence and/or travel within the company’s regional footprint.  The healthcare organization is a 24/365 operational organization which occasionally requires a flexible work schedule to minimize impact on caregivers.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is for an experienced Network/Cloud Engineer for a regional healthcare orgazniztion, a seven-hospital health system in Idaho.  The role will work primarily within data center and enterprise network technologies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Analyze and define business requirements and apply broad technical knowledge and best practices to design, develop, administer, and maintain network systems.
  • Monitor and measure overall performance and scalability, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Assesses and optimize the performance of new and existing systems.
  • Work with other functional groups to establish and improve processes.
  • Work independently within projects and participate in troubleshooting events.
  • Independently handle complex issues and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to subordinate groups.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to core data center network upgrades at key facilities.
  • Perform network-related maintenance and management tasks.
  • Participate and assist in various implementation projects.
  • Prepare and improve detailed network documentation.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least 1 year of related hands-on and practical work experience within three or more of the following technical fields:
    • Enterprise routing and switching concepts.
    • Firewall management.
    • Overlay network technologies.
    • Application load-balancing.
    • Public/private cloud.

PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Familiarity with healthcare-specific network challenges.
  • Palo Alto security solutions.
  • Citrix Netscaler.
  • Cisco Nexus/Catalyst, e.g. VPC, VSS, HSRP, spanning-tree
  • Cisco ASR/ISR, e.g. BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
  • Azure cloud networking design, provisioning, and troubleshooting experience.

PREFERRED NON-TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work both independently AND collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exceptional planning skills and meticulous documentation abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities and tasks.
  • Keen understanding of high-availability and potential impact of work duties.
